How Close Is The Invisibility Cloak?

Invisibility. Frodo used a ring, James Bond used an Aston Martin, the Klingons used space ships, and Harry Potter used a cloak. Now, it looks like they’re all closer to becoming a reality. Well, except for the ring because that’s just stupid. Scientists from the Imperial College in London and Duke University have teamed up to create a 4.7-inch piece of material that can actually bend microwaves to make them flow around whatever is wrapped in the material. It only took them five months to go from publishing an article stating that the technology was possible to having a working prototype of this huge innovation. With that sort of timeframe, we should be (not) seeing these things being used in the next few years. Right?
