Nintendo DS Media Enhancer: DS-Xtreme

The DS-Xtreme is a media enhancer for the Nintendo DS or DS Lite. DS-Xtreme features 512MB of memory that can store game backups, audio, video, homebrew applications and more. The card is very simple to use- all you have to do is plug and play. DS-Xtreme features a USB port that plugs into a PC and mounts itself as a flash drive. All you have to do is drag and drop, put the card into your DS or DS Lite game slot and you’re ready to go. The game backups are stores as .NDS files, and the audio files are all stores as MP3. When you’re playing a game through the DS-Xtreme, it should run exactly as if you had the game inside your DS. The music is just as consistent. Looks like if you have one of these, you won’t need to carry around those extravagant cases with a bunch of pockets, and you won’t need all those little sleeves and/or hard cases for your games since you won’t need to take them with you.

There isn’t any information on how or which homebrew applications run on the DS-Xtreme, but we’re sure to find out when the $125 media enhancer is released , which should be in the next couple of weeks.
