Swedish Beers & Innovation clash?

bulldog-on-mic.jpgIn the next few weeks & months there are a lot of events happening across the UK & Ireland. I am contemplating either putting together a “socialtext” wiki to enable event organisers to list their own events here on TechCrunch or would you prefer me to use something like UpComing.org.

The reason I ask is because once again we have a clash of events in London. There are three events planned for the evening of October 17th. One of my personal aims for TechCrunch UK is/was to create a platform to help organisers & attendees, so there was no clashes. I must admit it is a struggle to keep up to speed on all of the events and often it is only at the very last minute that I hear about them.

Below is a list of the three coming up, that I know of. There are several more in October and early November that I will put in a following post.

1. Beers & Innovation 5 – Aggregators and Upsetters which is run by Deirdre Molloy is on October 17th, starting at 6pm until 8:30pm, at the Albannach 66 Trafalgar Square, London WC2N 5DS. This event should be very interesting because Aggregation is linked very strongly to the ideas around microformats, structured blogging, user generated content and rights ownership. Mr Mashable (aka Pete Cashmore) wrote “Here Come The Edge Aggregators” which is worth reading to set the scene for this discussion.

It will be chaired by Mike Butchermbites and the panel will include Richard Anson – CEO of Reevoo, Paul Pod – Co-Founder, TIOTI: Tape It Off The Internet and Umair Haque – Principal, Bubblegeneration

2. Swedish Beers which is run by Helen Keegan [aka TechnoKitten] is celebrating its 5th birthday on October 17th, starting at 18:30 until late, at the Nordic Bar 25 Newman St, London W1. “If you fancy a drink and a chat, have a vaguely passing interest in things mobile and media then Swedish Beers is for you. No presentations, no speakers, nothing formal – just turn up and mingle.” The nearest Tube is either Goodge St or Tottenham Court Rd.
3. London Mixer which is run by PaidContent.org is starting its 1st event in London on October 17th, time to be confirmed, at Rich Mix 35-47 Bethnal Green Road, London E1 6LA. Rali one of the organiser said “We will open the registration for the mixer by sometime mid next week, so watch out for that. Mail me (rali AT moconews.net) if you have any suggestions on trying to get a speaker for that evening, or if you are interested in sponsoring the mixer. We will also be announcing further plans for our UK launch and expansion, so if you have any ideas or want to work with us, again you know what to do.”

So there you go, two great events and potentially one new one. I better get on with putting up the TechCrunch UK calendar. Personally I will be heading to the Beers & Innovation first followed by a swift cab ride across town to catchup with the folks at Swedish Beers to celebrate their birthday.

Update: London Mixer has been postponed so as not to clash with Swedish Beers and Beers & Innovation. A new date will be announced shortly.
