. That's a good move for Sony, as the Wii from Nintendo is poised to launch at under $300. What's not so hot, however, is news that PlayStation 3 games could cost as much as $75 to $84 at launch.
Besides the known problems plaguing the new PlayStation, including feature-creep and delays, the costs of developing games for the system is higher–due, in part, to the Cell processor's eight core architecture. This again brings the unwelcome specter of the gaming system being too expensive to compete. So far, these price increases are only showing in Japan, it's too early to see if we'll see them here in the States, but we'll all find out fairly soon.
