Palm Confirms Low-End Treo In Earnings Call

In a conference earnings call, Ed Colligan of Palm confirmed there was a low-end Treo coming sometime in the next few weeks. This will be priced at users who are “price sensitive”, which just a nice way of saying poor. Yes, there’s going to be a Treo for poor people.

The phone, which is probably going to be labeled the Treo 680, is PalmOS based, does not have 3G data, has 64MB of ram, and is just a small bump from the Treo 650 instead of being based off the new Treo 700s. Apparently, it’s already been spotted on Cingular doing speed tests, so it should arrive pretty darn soon.
